WHY BRISTOLFX

More Foundation Repair Experience Than Any Other Contractor In The Region

Most foundation repair companies were started by a contractor who learned one method and built a business around it. Bristolfx was built differently β€” from the ground up, with a foundation of real-world experience that most companies could never match.

Before the first Bristolfx inspector ever knocked on a homeowner’s door, our team had already repaired over 5,000 foundations and renovated over 18,000 homes across the country. That experience is built into every inspection, every proposal, and every repair we deliver today.

OUR STORY

Built On A Foundation of Real Experience

Before we ever worked for homeowners, we spent years repairing foundations for the largest mortgage institutions in America. Here is how that experience shaped everything we do today.

2004

Bristol Builders, Inc. β€” Serving Banks & Investors

Jerold Bronstrup founded Bristol Builders, Inc. as a licensed contractor serving banks and real estate investors exclusively. Bristol Builders was selected as a SAM (Servicer Asset Management) contractor for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac β€” two of the largest mortgage institutions in the United States. In that role, the company renovated over 18,000 homes and repaired over 5,000 foundations across Southern California.Β  This was not residential work done one house at a time. This was high-volume, high-accountability renovations performed to

FNMA and FHLMC β€” and it built an unmatched depth of real-world experience.

2009

We Studied The Best Foundation repair methodsΒ  In America

With thousands of foundations repaired, Jerold recognized that no single method worked in every soil condition, every climate, or every structure type. He spent two years traveling the United States to study the most effective foundation repair contractors in the country β€” observing methods, evaluating materials, and identifying the techniques that delivered the most permanent results. This research became the foundation of everything Bristolfx does today. We do not rely on one method. We use the right method for your specific situation.

2011

Foundation Tech, Inc. d.b.a. Bristolfx β€” Built For Homeowners

Having repaired thousands of foundations for investors and institutions, Jerold saw a gap in the market. Homeowners deserved the same quality of engineered, permanent repair β€” but with honest communication, transparent pricing, and someone who actually cared about the outcome. Foundation Tech, Inc. d.b.a. Bristolfx was created for that purpose. Everything we learned working at institutional scale β€” the diagnostic discipline, the engineering standards, the quality control β€” was brought directly to the homeowner market.

TODAY

Continuous Research, Training & Innovation

The foundation repair industry continues to evolve. New materials, new methods, and new engineering standards emerge regularly. Bristolfx invests continuously in research and manufacturer-led training to ensure our crews are certified in the most current and effective techniques available. We do not just fix what is in front of us β€” we stay ahead of what is coming. When you hire Bristolfx, you get not just 20 years of experience, but a company that is actively learning and improving on your behalf.

“We did not start Bristolfx to be another foundation repair company. We started it because after repairing thousands of foundations for banks, we knew homeowners deserved the same engineered standard of work β€” with someone who actually explains what they are doing and why.”

Why Old Methods Fail β€” And What We Use Instead

βœ— Mudjacking

Heavy cement slurry that shrinks, erodes, and washes away. A temporary lift that often leaves the home worse than before. Still used today by contractors who have not evolved.

βœ— Concrete Push Piles

Wide concrete cylinders that cannot bypass expansive clay. The clay grabs the pile and heaves it upward with every rain cycle β€” causing the very cracking it was meant to stop.

βœ— Shims & Bottle Jacks

We still find VW jacks and river rocks under homes built in the 1940s and 50s. These corrode, lose pressure, and punch through the floor joists they were meant to support.

PERMANENT DEEP FOUNDATION SUPPORT

Steel Push Piers vs. Helical Piers

Both systems bypass unstable surface soil and anchor your home to solid ground β€” but each is engineered for different conditions. Here is how to know which one your home needs.

Steel push pier installation on a residential foundation.

Steel Push Piers

Push piers use the weight of your home as resistance to drive high-strength steel pipe sections deep into the ground until they reach bedrock or a stable load-bearing stratum. They are the strongest solution for heavier structures with significant settlement.

Best For:

  • βœ“ Heavy residential and commercial structures
  • βœ“ Deep settlement requiring bedrock support
  • βœ“ Exterior installation with minimal disruption
  • βœ“ Maximum load-bearing capacity required
  • βœ“ Expansive clay soils β€” steel profile resists heaving

Helical Piers

Helical piers are screwed into the ground like a giant bolt using a hydraulic torque motor. Because they do not rely on the weight of the structure to install, they work on lighter buildings, new construction, and areas with limited access where heavy equipment cannot reach.

Best For:

  • βœ“ Lighter structures β€” patios, decks, additions
  • βœ“ New construction foundations
  • βœ“ Tight or limited access areas
  • βœ“ Interior and exterior installation
  • βœ“ Creeping or laterally shifting soils

β˜… Both push pier and helical pier installations come with a Transferable Lifetime Warranty β€” protecting your investment and adding resale value to your home.

NO-EXCAVATION SOIL STABILIZATION

Polyurethane Deep Foam Injection

Bristolfx crew injecting polyurethane foam for foundation stabilization.

This is the modern evolution of mudjacking β€” and the two could not be more different. Instead of heavy mud that washes away, we inject high-density structural polyurethane foam through small drilled holes. The foam expands to fill voids, binds soil particles together, and lifts the surface β€” all within hours.

Lightweight & Hydrophobic

Polyurethane is 95% lighter than mudjacking slurry β€” it adds no dead load to failing soil. It is also waterproof, so it will not wash away in a storm or through seasonal soil movement.

Soil Densification

The foam undergoes a chemical reaction, expanding to fill microscopic voids and binding soil particles together. It addresses the root cause by stabilizing the ground itself β€” not just the surface.

  • βœ“ Lifts sunken slabs, driveways, patios, and floors
  • βœ“ Fills voids and stabilizes loose or eroded soil
  • βœ“ No major excavation required
  • βœ“ Certified Deep Foamjectionβ„’ contractor
  • βœ“ Surfaces ready to use within hours

RAISED FOUNDATION REPAIR

Crawlspace Repairs β€” Post, Beam & Floor System

Foundation Tech crew installing a new beam in an apartment in downtown Los Angeles.

A damaged crawlspace silently destroys a home from the ground up. Moisture causes wood rot and mold. Termites and pests attack weakened posts and beams. The result is sagging floors, cracking drywall, and structural instability that worsens every season.

Bristolfx restores crawlspaces to clean, dry, structurally sound condition. We self-perform every task β€” no subcontractors β€” using certified crews trained to manufacturer specifications.

Post & Beam Repair

Rotted or failed posts and beams are replaced with properly sized, treated lumber or steel β€” engineered to carry the loads above them permanently.

Floor Joist Sistering

Damaged joists are reinforced by sistering new lumber alongside the old β€” restoring full structural capacity without removing flooring above.

  • βœ“ Post and beam repair and full replacement
  • βœ“ Floor joist sistering and repair
  • βœ“ Seismic Brace + Bolt β€” CEA certified
  • βœ“ Moisture barriers and drainage solutions
  • βœ“ All work self-performed by certified crews

PERIMETER FOUNDATION REPAIR

Stem Wall Repair & Replacement

Bristolfx crew replacing the perimeter stem wall footing of an old Pasadena house.

Thousands of homes across Southern California were built in the early 1900s on stem walls made of creekstone, river rock, or unreinforced concrete mixed by hand on site. At the time, these materials were what was available. Today, after 80 to 100 years of seismic activity, moisture cycles, and soil movement, many of these walls are no longer capable of safely supporting the structure above them.

This is not a crack repair situation. When a stem wall has deteriorated past the point of patching, the only permanent solution is partial or complete replacement with modern reinforced concrete β€” properly tied into the existing footings and engineered to current California building code.

“A crumbling creekstone stem wall is not a cosmetic problem. It is a structural failure in progress. Every season it gets worse.”

  • βœ“ Creekstone and river rock stem wall replacement
  • βœ“ Unreinforced concrete stem wall repair and rebuild
  • βœ“ Modern reinforced concrete replacement to code
  • βœ“ Footing repair and integration
  • βœ“ Seismic upgrades incorporated during rebuild
  • βœ“ Permits obtained and inspections coordinated
